Equipment / Shooting Kit
Dress
All competitors from arms of service are to wear their issued uniform, private members will wear uniform as approved by the SACRA board. These uniforms consist of the following items:
– Jacket and or Jersey (weather permitting)
– Shirt (T-shirt optional)
– Trousers
– Boots
– Bush Hat or Cap
– Wet weather clothing (Weather permitting)
NOTE:
– No padding, inside or outside is allowed
– No civilian clothing or items of foreign uniform are permitted
Optical Sights
International competitors use equipment as issued.

Webbing equipment
SANDF, SAPS and DCS members will wear webbing equipment/battle jackets as issued. PCRC members to wear SANDF Pattern 88 Battle Jacket. No modifications are allowed to be made to the webbing/jacket or pieces removed.

Hand protection
Gloves, mittens or gauntlets of any description are not permitted to be worn during matches.

Ear protection
All competitors are to wear ear protection devices during matches. The organisers are to ensure that earplugs are for sale and available from the Range Officer at all times, this includes League, Provincial and National Shooting Competitions/Exercises.

Shooting mat
A shooting mat may be used as protection for clothing but may not be thicker than 6mm uncompressed. The mat will be laid flat on the firing point and may not be rolled or folded. Nothing else may be used under or on the mat as a rest for the magazine.

Optical Aids
Binoculars and spotting scopes are allowed, together with their stands or rests, provided they do not inconvenience other competitors. In coached team matches they may be used throughout. No device or eyeglass of any description which assists or improves vision while aiming the rifle
is allowed, for example spectacles with adjustable lenses or specialist monoculars. This does not prevent the shooter from wearing prescription spectacles, safety glasses or contact lenses. Attachments to the frames of spectacles are not allowed.

Rests
No artificial rest or attachments for steadying the rifle or arms, other than the sling as per Rules 35-37 may be used. No holes may be dug or mounds built on the firing point. While firing, the wall of the firing point may not be touched by any part of the shooter.
Optical Sights
The specification for optical sights to be used is as follow:
a. Any brand of scope may be used
b. Variable Magnification up to maximum 4x
c. Max 32mm Objective front lens
d. Max length of scope: Ten Inches (10”)
e. No reticle limitations
f. Focus ring or focus adapter allowed
Magazines
Any Double Stack type Magazine of the dimensions as currently issued Magazines may be used.
No foreign material may be used to “tighten” the fit of any magazine in the housing of the Rifle.
Foreign competitors use issued equipment.
Slings
Only the standard R4/R5 sling as issued may be used by RSA competitors, International competitors to only use equipment as issued. No other, imported, self made or civilian slings will be permitted.
The sling may be used as a single point sling attached through the front sling bracket or as a two point sling attached to both sling brackets. It may be placed around ones arm and/or wrist but not around any other part of the shooters body. The sling must at all times be attached to the rifle during the firing of matches, even if not being used as an aid. The sling must not be attached to the rifle in such a manner that the shooter is restricted from carrying out weapon handling drills safely.
The attachment of a rifle sling is compulsory for the purposes of this competition.
